August 24, 2018 Mormon Women for Ethical Government believes that one of the basic requirements for a healthy democracy is an informed and involved citizenry. A large part of our mission involves voter education and engagement. We believe that constituents should be informed and should work hard to understand, not just candidates and issues, but also proposed legislation. Bills and initiatives should be carefully examined and measured against broadly accepted ethical principles. Good legislation is clear, specific, based on verifiable, objective facts, and free from the taint of money from lobbyists or other special interest groups. As Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in our 2016 elections continues, we at Mormon Women for Ethical Government reaffirm our commitment to defending long-standing principles of democracy and respect for the rule of law. The health and strength of our nation depend upon a citizenry that is well informed, civically engaged, and willing to put our country above partisan politics. June 26, 2018 As members of Mormon Women for Ethical Government, we are deeply disappointed and dismayed at today’s Supreme Court ruling upholding the latest iteration of the Trump administration’s travel ban. We believe there are multiple factors that make this travel ban unprecedented, and we cannot discount or ignore the greater context in which the ban was issued.
