January 12, 2018 President Trump’s recent comments about Haiti and several countries in Africa and Central America were indefensible–ugly, offensive, racist, and decidedly un-Presidential. In light of today’s announcement by Senator Orrin Hatch that he will not seek reelection this coming November, Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) wishes to thank him for his many years of service to our state and country. We commend the Senator for this decision and encourage him to focus on the legacy he will leave. 2017: It was the worst of times, it was the best of times. There has, indeed, been a silver lining to the calamity and distress of the year past — an unprecedented awakening of the citizens of the world and a greater degree of civic engagement than most of us have ever witnessed before.
