Call to Action: Request the Former President Be Held Accountable

After his election defeat, former President Trump lied about the election, repeatedly and with the direct intent to undermine legitimate results and maintain power. The result was not only a horrific attack on our nation’s Capitol building and the deaths and injuries of close to 150 people, but the undermining of American democracy using a big lie as a tool. We expect accountability from the former president just as from the individual citizens who stormed the Capitol. We cannot move toward a more secure future without first recognizing the truth of recent events — and demanding that accountability should stem from that truth. To do: Contact your senators to let…

Politicians Are Not Going to Save Us from Corruption

“Today, while a majority of the U.S. Senate voted to acquit Donald J. Trump of both articles of impeachment presented by the House, Sen. Mitt Romney stood courageously in defense of ethical government voting to convict. He honored his solemn duty to put country over party. We congratulate and commend him on this act of leadership.” Click here for the full text of this Salt Lake Tribune op-ed by MWEG leaders Wendy Dennehy and Lisa Rampton Halverson.

January 2020 Full and Fair Trial Events in Utah

Last week, MWEG helped organize a cross-partisan coalition to advocate for a full and fair impeachment trial in the Senate. A prayer breakfast, news conference, and rally on Thursday in Salt Lake City, Utah, provided an opportunity to join our voice with others to pressure our elected officials to uncover truth, as is sought by the majority of American voters. The words spoken by our members at those events are deeply relevant to this moment in our history so we have shared the full text of each speech here. Prayer Breakfast: “(W)e also call upon fellow Utahns to view the actions and words of our elected officials involved in the…

Be a Witness: Speak Out for a Full and Fair Impeachment Trial

UPDATE: Deadline extended to 5PM PT / 6PM MT / 7PM CT / 8PM ET.We are Republicans. We are Democrats. We are Independents and the unaffiliated. Our combined voices represent the majority of American voters, and we are frustrated by politicians who weaponize our two-party system as a means to consolidate and maintain political power. Hyperpartisanship makes enemies of fellow citizens and insulates leaders from the natural and legal consequences of their actions. When this happens, we all lose. There is a better way. We must come together and unitedly proclaim that our primary allegiance is to the nation we love. Then, as voters, we must demand the highest standards…
